Leon County Property Appraiser Akin Akinyemi, PhD, RA, CFA, CMS, has mailed legally required Notices of Proposed Property Taxes (“TRIM notices”) to Leon County property owners. These notices provide taxpayers with a preview of their property’s assessed value as of January 1, 2024, any applicable exemptions, and their estimated property taxes for the year.

This annual milestone serves as the start of a months-long effort to inform taxpayers of proposed taxable values and property tax rates through the mailing of Truth In Mileage (“TRIM”) Notices.

Leon County Property Appraiser Akin Akinyemi, PhD, RA, CFA, CMS, announces that the preliminary 2024 tax roll has been submitted to the Florida Department of Revenue and local taxing authorities. Based on market conditions as of January 1, 2024, taxable property values in Leon County increased approximately 10% from 2023 to 2024, with overall market values reflecting an increase of over 7.3%. The assessed value of properties with homestead exemption will not increase by more than 3% above last year’s value.

IAAO Logo The Leon County Property Appraiser's Office has been awarded the Certificate of Excellence in Assessment Administration from the International Association of Assessing Officers.

The CEAA award is in recognition of utilizing best appraisal and assessment practices. In 2012, our office became the 11th jurisdiction nationally to earn the certificate since the inception of the program, and the 8th jurisdiction in Florida. The office was recertified in 2018 and 2024.
