TALLAHASSEE, FL – Leon County Property Appraiser Akin Akinyemi, PhD, RA, CFA, CMS, proudly announces that his office has been recertified with the prestigious Certificate of Excellence in Assessment Administration from the International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO). Originally certified in 2012, becoming the 11th jurisdiction nationally to earn the certificate since the inception of the program, and first recertified in 2018, this recognition is awarded to government entities that adhere to the highest standards and implement industry best practices in assessment administration. Leon County was the 8th jurisdiction in Florida to earn the certificate.
The recertification was presented on August 27, 2024, during the IAAO’s 90th Annual International Conference on Assessment Administration, held at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, Colorado. In addition, the IAAO presented Dr. Akinyemi and his leadership team with the Public Information Award, honoring their unwavering commitment to transparency, community engagement, and enhancing public understanding of the property assessment process.
“This certification is a true mark of excellence in the assessment world, and being recognized on an international stage is an incredible honor,” said Akinyemi. “It’s a reflection of our hard work and dedication, and as your Property Appraiser, I’m more committed than ever to driving innovation and delivering outstanding service to our community.”
The Leon County Property Appraiser’s Office also received recognition from the Center for Digital Government (CDG) with a Government Experience Project Award during the virtual GovX Summit on September 26. This award highlighted the office’s successful launch of an updated website, designed to improve accessibility and enhance the user experience for Leon County residents.
