Leon County Property Owners: Proposed Property Tax Notices Are on the Way!

Short for “Truth in Millage,” TRIM Notices Give Taxpayers a Head Start On Understanding Their Property’s Value and Estimated Taxes

TALLAHASSEE, FL – Leon County Property Appraiser Akin Akinyemi, PhD, RA, CFA, CMS, has mailed legally required Notices of Proposed Property Taxes (“TRIM notices”) to Leon County property owners. These notices provide taxpayers with a preview of their property’s assessed value as of January 1, 2024, any applicable exemptions, and their estimated property taxes for the year.

“Your TRIM notice is a powerful tool that gives you a head start on understanding your property’s value and estimated taxes,” said Akinyemi. “By reviewing it early, you can plan ahead and ensure there are no surprises when your tax bill arrives in November.”

While the TRIM notice is not a bill, it provides property owners with their first look at the factors that will determine their property taxes. Taking a few moments to review the notice can help them stay informed and confident about what to expect.

In collaboration with the Leon County Tax Collector, this year's TRIM notices include a special insert reminding property owners that the figures presented are estimates. This insert underscores the importance of anticipating the official tax bill, which will be mailed by the tax collector in November.

The Leon County Property Appraiser's Office remains committed to providing accurate assessments, exceptional service, and fostering public trust. We encourage all property owners to carefully review their TRIM notices and reach out to our office at (850) 606-6200 with any questions or concerns.
